Cistern (2022)
 
Taking cover from the rain in a grotto by a river, one might find and experience a unique world unto itself. In a confined space, whether created or naturally occurring, sensory qualities are concentrated, and we experience interactions between the contents and the boundaries of that space which reveal hidden properties, complexities, and the profound. The sounds that make up this piece were recorded on an enchanted day spent in one such special place, Fiddler’s Green in Jamesville, NY, as well as my backyard during a rainstorm and through the misuse of assorted cymbals and kitchen gear.
