Music for Concert
Matt creates concert music that reflects the connections between the natural world and the human psyche. His recent work, including commissions by the Eastman Percussion Ensemble, New Conductors’ Orchestra NYC, The US Air Force Band, and 3D Percussion, has focused on the interplay between the abstract spaces of physics, biology, and psychology, and musical space, and is frequently performed and recorded across North America, Asia, and Europe.
Music for Education
Matt is an associate professor of music theory at the Eastman School of Music, where he holds the prestigious Eisenhart award for excellence in teaching. His composition for educational use focuses on creating rewarding and musically challenging ensemble, chamber, and solo music for flexible instrumentation adaptable to students at different levels.
